Biography/Administrative History
William Lea Moore was born in Vernon, New York, and moved to the Los Gatos (Calif.) area with his parents in 1907. He graduated
from Los Gatos High School, then served in World War I in the air services in France. After returning to San Jose, he graduated
from the University of the Pacific and worked as an engineering estimator for Pacific Gas & Electric Company's electrical
distribution department. The Moores lived at 1329 Willow Street, in the Willow Glen neighborhood. He died in June 1966 in
San Jose, at the age of 68.
Scope and Content of Collection
Photographs taken by San Jose resident William Lea Moore, documenting his wife Margaret and daughter Janice, downtown San
Jose and Willow Glen neighborhoods, and Santa Clara Valley views during spring "blossom" time. San Jose's historic buildings
and landmarks, and mid-century Willow Glen are featured, including shots of orchards and several housing developments.
