Biography
Ben Carré was a French-born scenic painter and art director. He emigrated to the United States in
1912. He was active from 1907 to 1937 as an art director and from 1939 to 1951 as a painter of
backgrounds.
Collection Scope and Content Summary
The Ben Carré papers span the years 1915-1977 (bulk 1970s) and encompass 2 linear feet. The collection
consists largely of autobiographical writings apparently from the 1970s. There is a small amount of
