    Biographical / Historical

    Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Cartoon Studio (1937-1957) was responsible for producing animated shorts to accompany MGM feature films in Loew's Theatre. Notable people who worked for the MGM Cartoon Studio were William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, Tex Avery, and Fritz Freleng.

    Scope and Contents

    This collection consists of music scores that accompany cartoon shorts created by the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Cartoon Studio from 1937-1957. Scores are arranged by cartoon project number and consists of handwritten and printed sheet music. All boxes contain original scores with some copies present.
    Scores for Tom and Jerry cartoons and cartoons directed by Tex Avery represented in this collection.
