Headquartered in Los Angeles the SWC has an international footprint with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Buenos Aires, is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe, and maintains relationships with the highest levels of governments throughout the world". ("About the Simon Wiesenthal Center")
The SWC was established in 1977 by Rabbi Marvin Hier, and named in honor of Simon Wiesenthal, a Jewish Austrian Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter. The SWC also runs The Musuem of Tolerance, Los Angeles; Museum of Tolerance, Jerusalem; and Moriah Films.
