Abstract:
This collection consists mostly of undated, unsigned, and untitled manuscripts regarding Pastor Charles Wagner who came from Paris to give lectures in the United States in 1904. These manuscripts appear to be authored by George Wharton James, as much of the draft version is written on the backs of James' correspondence. This collection includes press clippings for Wagner from 1904, a typed copy of his lecture, a manuscript entitled "Mr. Charles Wagner - An Appreciation," a copy of a manuscript by John Wanamaker introducing Wagner for his lecture in 1904, a typed manuscript of an interview with Wanamaker, and papers regarding the Craftsman meeting room at the Craftsman Building in Syracuse, New York. Craftsman papers include correspondence from Gustav Stickley, a ticket for Wagner's appearance, a to-do list, and a pamphlet.
