Biographical / Historical
In 1880, Bissinger and Company, an outgrowth of the Alaska Commercial Company, was
organized in San Francisco. It specialized in hides, wool, and related articles and
maintained tanneries, slaughterhouses, and offices in Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Montana,
Washington, California, and British Columbia.

Scope and Contents
The collection contains financial records, photographs of the Bissinger tanneries and of
company employees, business-related correspondence, company by-laws and articles of
incorporation, notices of dissolution, and company minutes (1901-1927).
