The collection contains scripts; clippings; correspondence regarding various projects about the life of von Stroheim; miscellany, including advertisements for books about von Stroheim; clippings regarding his son, sound editor Josef von Stroheim; and photostats of handwritten memoirs by his wife, Valerie von Stroheim.

Erich von Stroheim was an Austrian-born director, actor, and screenwriter who emigrated to the United States in 1909. He received a nomination from the Academy for actor in a supporting role for SUNSET BLVD. (1950).
