Abstract: The American Association of University Women (AAUW) records contain the minutes, financial records, publications, news clippings
and other ephemera from the Ventura County branches of the AAUW between 1916 and 1991. The Ventura County chapter, first formed
in 1916, was followed by the formation of two distinct branches within the county: the Camarillo branch, formed in 1962; and
the Thousand Oaks branch, formed in 1966.

Biographical / Historical
The American Association of University of Women is an organization that has aimed towards the advancement, equity, and advocacy
of women in the professional world since its inception in 1880. The AAUW was one of the first women's organizations in the
United States to focus on education and professional placement for women. The Ventura County chapter of the AAUW was first
formed in 1916, followed by the formation of two distinct branches within the county: the Camarillo branch, formed in 1962;
and the Thousand Oaks branch, formed in 1966.
