Description
Photographs taken in the American West as part of the U.S. Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories.
Background
William Henry Jackson was the official photographer of the U.S. Geological Survey of the Territories between 1870 and 1876, under the leadership of Dr. Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden.

110 photographs in 4 portfolios : albumen prints on mounts ; prints between 37 x 30 cm and 54 x 43 cm
