    Biography

Northrop Grumman Corporation is an American global aerospace and defense technology company formed by Northrop's 1994 purchase of Grumman.

    Scope and Content

The Northrop Grumman Corporation papers document the history of Northrop Aircraft, Inc. and Northrop Corporation, as well as its products, employees, and founder, John Knudsen Northrop.
The collection is divided into two series: Corporate Archival Records and Aircraft Division Records. The bulk of the material is within the Archives Series, however as the Aircraft Division/Aircraft Group, specifically the Division Historian, Ira Chart, created the archives, the series are interrelated and contain related materials.
The collection is generally arranged by subjects and format of material within. Brochures, Reports, Manuals, Correspondence and Memoranda, etc. Organization largely dictated by types and organization of materials in collection.

    Inventory

The following inventory was created by Brook Engebretson in 2015 and contains more detailed information regarding the contents of series and subseries. The series and subseries are listed, which match the current arrangement, and contain information on topics, subjects, and dates of the material. The box and folder numbers are not included in the document, however, but the series and subseries can be referenced with the contents list here for a general idea on where to locate the material within the collection.
