The grandson of Viktor Aagaard, sent the photographs to the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park in 1996. They
were formally accessioned by the Park in 2000.
Historical or Biographical Note
Viktor M. J. Aagaard (March 14, 1888 - June 6, 1946) was an X-ray technician at St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco, California.
Born in Denmark, he immigrated to the United States in 1906. During World War I he served as an X-ray technician at the Battle
Creek Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan. He relocated to San Francisco in the late 1910s/early 1920s. His hobby was photography.

The Viktor Aagaard photographs, 1940-1946, (SAFR 24263, P00-007) are comprised of photographs of cargo ships and U.S. Navy
vessels in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The collection has been processed to the Collection level and is open for
use.
Contains photographs by Viktor Aagaard of cargo ships and U.S. Navy vessels underway on San Francisco Bay and docked along
the waterfront of San Francisco, California, 1940-1946. There are 33 color slides (2 x 2 in.). Aagaard used a pre-World War
II Leica camera to take the photographs.
