Abstract: Keith Eugene Smith was a pastor with the Church of the Nazarene and a historian of the movement in Maine. The collection includes
his files, notes and papers as a student at Nazarene Theological Seminary from 1948 to 1952, the third entering class, and
also at Boston University. Of interest to historians of the denomination are the files he kept, in the preparation of his
dissertation, on each church within the state of Maine, and on various important persons involved in the Church of the Nazarene,
district of Maine. The title of his thesis, written for Boston University in 1964, is “History of the Church of the Nazarene
in Maine, 1893-1920: the formative years.”

The collection includes Keith Smith's files, notes and papers as a student at Nazarene Theological Seminary from 1948 to 1952,
the third entering class, and also at Boston University, 1952-1954. Also included in the collection are the Church bulletins
from the churches he pastored, Mystic Side Congregational Church, Everett-Malden, Mass., from December 1952 to1955, Church
of the Nazarene, Bingham, Maine, from 1955 to 1965 and First Church of the Nazarene, Hartford, Connecticut, from 1965 to 2000.
