Photographs of Europe dating from approximately 1890s, collected by the Hamilton Andrews Hill family of Boston, Massachusetts.
Background
Hamilton Andrews Hill (1827-1895) was born in London and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1841. He served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and was secretary of the Boston Board of Trade. He authored many books, including History of the Old South Church (Third Church) Boston, published in 1890. After his first wife died, he married Anna Frances Carruth (1846-1914) of Boston, in 1869, and they had two children: Anna C. Hill (1871-) and Hamilton Hill (1874-1940).
