dating from 1903-1987.

This collection consists of approximately 3000 Santa Barbara historical picture postcards gathered by Whitney Newland (1930-2022),
dating from 1903-1987.
Postcards depict panoramic and birdseye views, natural features and landmarks, harbor, wharf, waterfront, bath, beach and
street scenes, local hotels and resorts, businesses, schools, film studios, churches, missions, railways and trolleys, agriculture,
coastal roads, private residences, neighborhoods (new and old), storms and floods, Fiesta events, presidential visits, and
1925 Earthquake scenes.
Locations include Santa Barbara, Goleta, Montecito, Summerland, Carpinteria, Gaviota, Santa Maria, Lompoc, as well as Solvang
and other towns within the Santa Ynez Valley.
