The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences is one of nine colleges at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) is one of nine colleges at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. It was originally known as the School of Arts, beginning in the 1967-1968 academic year. Prior to that, course offerings such as Music fell under the Arts and Sciences Division. The School of Arts became the College of Arts for the 1988-1989 school year and, in the Fall of 1995, the College of Arts again changed its name to the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. As part of the change, the Department of Art transferred to the College of Environmental Design.
