Historical photographs of the biota and geology of Islas Guadalupe, Mexico, taken by Joseph R. Jehl, Jr., mostly in the period
1969-1971. Color slides in protective sleeves in four 3-ring binders and two envelopes of folders of prints.
Biographical / Historical
Born on December 12, 1935 in New York City, Jehl attended Cornell University (A.B. 1957), and the University of Michigan (M.A.
1964, PhD 1967). He joined the San Diego Natural History Museum as curator of Birds and Mammals in 1967. From 1977 to 2001,
he was a research biologist at the Carl L. Hubbs Sea World Research Institute; his major research interests were seabirds
and shorebirds. He is currently a research associate in the Division of Birds at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural
History.
