Table of contents What's This?
The collection consists of interviews with leading Southern California artists conducted by Betty Turnbull, in preparation for her 1976 exhibition The Last Time I Saw Ferus, which documented the circle of artists and art figures surrounding the Ferus Gallery. Also included are ephemera, photographs and correspondence relating to the exhibition and other projects.
Betty Turnbull (1924-2010) was the first curator of exhibitions for the Newport Harbor Art Museum (now the Orange County Museum of Art), serving from 1968 to 1981. She also served as acting director of the museum from 1972 to 1973. She operated the TLK Gallery with Phyllis Lutjeans and Victoria Kogan from 1982 to 1985.
