    Abstract: Alexander Arkatov was a teacher of theater at the Imperial School of the Theatre and an Associate Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Moscow, where he lectured on the history of drama. He was a member of the Moscow Art Theatre, studied under Stanislavsky, and later worked at the Moscow Camerny Theatre under Director Tairov. By 1919, he was the associate director of productions at the Theatre of the Revolution, and was appointed Dean and Professor of the Academy at the State Motion Picture Academy of the USSR. He is credited as the director of 5 films and the writer of three, all dating from 1911-1918. The collection consists of manuscripts (stories and plays) by Alexander Arkatov, written by Arkatov in Los Angeles, and information about his film career in Russia.
