This collection contains carbon-copy typescript correspondence from promoters to parents of contestants and winners of newspaper-sponsored baby contests in California and Nevada from 1916-1932. Includes: L'Elvezia ("the only Swiss newspaper in Italian language published in the United States") (San Francisco, California) and its "Grand $6,000 Prize Popularity Contest", which awarded 1915 Hudson and Studebaker touring automobiles, and its "Shower of Prizes for Swiss Babies", awarding a Jeffrey Four automobile (1916-1917) -- Daily News (San Francisco, California) "Shower of Prizes for Lovely Babies in Northern California" (1926) -- "The San Francisco News Fourth Annual 'Baby Revue'" (1928) -- El Imparcial's (San Francisco, California) contest (1929) -- "The Portland [Oregon] News First Annual 'Baby Revue'" (1930), awarding five Kimball baby grand pianos -- Nevada State Journal's (Reno, Nevada) contest (1932) -- "Contra Costa News baby Revue" (undated).
