    Biography/Administrative History

    The Berkeley Interracial Committee was created to promote interracial justice and harmony and to oppose racial segregation and discrimination. Joel Selvin and Mary Sisson active in the committee. An oral history with Joel Selvin will be found at the San Francisco State University labor archives; The Bancroft Library has issues of the Berkeley Interracial Committee News.

    The collection contains minutes of meetings, constitution, program materials, and correspondence. One folder has material on Negro History Week, 1947-1950, and on the California Federation for Civic Unity.
