Robert Wadsworth Edgren (born Chicago, IL January 7, 1874; died Carmel, CA September 9, 1939) was a nationally syndicated American political and sports cartoonist (specializing in boxing), reporter, editor, and Olympic athlete (discus and shot put) in the 1906 Summer Games (source Wikipedia, viewed 7/17/2023). Edgren moved to the Monterey Peninsula in the 1930s, served on the California Boxing Commission, and died in his apartment at Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Monterey Museum of Art has a number of his original cartoons in their collection (Accession # 1973.057.001-005).
