    Abstract: The Lynette Sperber papers, 1995-2010, includes educational and political campaign materials donated by activist Lynette Sperber. Sperber is a public speaker who works closely with LGBT advocacy organizations, primarily Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). The materials in this collection consist of items such as teaching manuals, brochures, flyers, and campaign packets.

    Biographical / Historical

    Lynette Sperber got involved in LGBT activism after her son came out in 1990. For 25 years, she and her husband Larry Sperber worked with Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) and other gay activist and support organizations. She worked as a public speaker at schools, businesses, and religious organizations, to raise awareness on gay rights and homophobia.

Permission for publication is given on behalf of ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archives at USC Libraries as the owner of the physical items and is not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which must also be obtained.

    Scope and Contents

    The Lynette Sperber papers consist of materials from Sperber's years of service with Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). The collection primarily consists of educational materials produced by PFLAG, educational materials produced by similar organizations, correspondence between her and other activist organizations, a collection of photographs of PFLAG participating in the 2000 Los Angeles Pride Parade, and political campaign resources for various causes. The subjects of these causes include housing for gay and lesbian elders, safer school campaigns, and same gender marriage.
