    Scope and Contents

    The Women's Traffic Club of Los Angeles scrapbook (1939-1989; undated) contains two boxes and 1.75 linear feet of material compiled by members of the Women's Traffic Club of Los Angeles. Included in the scrapbook are: yearbooks; booklets featuring club president biographies; telegrams; clippings; photographs taken at Associated Traffic Clubs of America (ATC) conventions, west coast conferences, weekend trips, and club gatherings; west coast conference programs; and other material.

    Conditions Governing Use

    All requests for permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the Director of Archives and Special Collections. Permission for publication is given on behalf of Special Collections as the owner of the physical materials and not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which must also be obtained.

    Processing Information

    Scrapbook was disassembled and placed in to archival acid-free folders and photograph sleeves; and newspaper clippings were interleaved with archival acid-free paper for preservation purposes.

    Biographical / Historical

    The Women's Traffic Club of Los Angeles was organized in April 1925; and was the first Women's traffic club in the world, as well as the first women's traffic club recongized by the Associated Traffic Clubs of America. The objective of the club was " to study and discuss transporation matters: to foster co-operation and better understanding between shippers and carriers" with a "purpose of attaining a greater degree of knowledge on traffic matters, through the exhange of ideas and experiences and by affording an opportunity for the hearing of those of authority on the subject"
