Scope and content:

The Community Organization and Environmental Control Records document research conducted by Prof. Richard D. Jones and SDSU students. The collection includes reports on specific communities, questionnaires, maps, photographs, pamphlets, promotion brochures, newspaper clippings, correspondence, etc.

Biographical / historical:

The Community Organization and Environmental Control project was headed by Dr. Richard D. Jones of the Anthropology Department at San Diego State University in 1971-1973. The project was funded by the National Science Research Foundation, and was an analysis of over 40 communities in the San Diego metropolitan area. Students gathered statistical data from a variety of local governmental and private agencies, and direct observations of community life from field visits.
