There is no known provenance for these newspapers.
The Daily Citizen, a Vicksburg, Mississippi, newspaper, (accession number 1997.25.2) may have come from Mr. Frank P. Lovett. The issues of
the
Illustrated London News may have come from T. Marie Chilton in the early 1960s.
This collection consists of newspapers and periodicals from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Most of the newspapers
are incomplete issues; some of the periodicals are complete, eg, the
Illustrated London News of December 8, 1928.
Two of the newspapers,
The Daily Citizen of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and the
The Boston Gazette and Country Journal, are either facsimiles or forgeries; cf. the accompanying circulars from the Library of Congress describing these newspapers.
