Herbert Haynes was a machinist at the Sacramento Air Depot at McClellan Air Force Base, this collection contains various financial documents and employment records with dates ranging from 1927-1966.

Eugene Herbert Haynes was born on August 21, 1897, and spent his formative years in Elyria, Ohio. by 1930, he had married Gretchen Anna Davis (b. 1904) and moved to Ceres, California. The Haynes' were living in Keyes, California, in June 1941, when Eugene sat for the U.S. Civil Service exam to become a Junior Machinist. He was hired as Junior Machinist for the Sacramento Air Depot at McClellan Air Force Base in July 1941, and rose to the position of Senior Machinist by August 1942. Eugene Haynes died on Auguest 17, 1955, in Sacramento, California. Gretchen Haynes lived in Sacramento until her death in June 1989.
