Abstract: This collection contains records from George Sunga’s role as Chair of the Diversity Committee of the Producers Guild of America
and his role as a volunteer organizer for a CBS alumni group FROGS. There are also scripts and related production documentation
for a few TV projects, both aired and unaired, which were produced by Sunga.

Biography/Administrative History
George Sunga, born in 1932, grew up in San Diego and attended San Diego State University before moving to Los Angeles. He
worked in the television industry for five decades, beginning in the CBS Television City mailroom and eventually becoming
a producer. His most well-known credits are Three’s Company, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, The Jeffersons, and Good Times.
His final credit is from 2006. Sunga, a Filipino American, served on the board of directors of the Producers Guild of America
and was a founding chair of the Guild’s Diversity Committee. Sunga died in 2023 and the PGA’s George Sunga Award honors a
television, film or documentary producer who features disabled characters, performers and storylines in their work.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection contains records from Sunga’s producing work and his professional involvement in the entertainment industry.
Sunga produced two “Producer's Guild of America Celebration of Diversity” events in 2002 and 2003 and the collection contains
all correspondence and paperwork related to those events, such as honoree selection, budgets, staff lists, and script. There
are also records related to his role as a volunteer in the CBS employees’ alumni group FROGS, including newsletters and reunion
event organization. Lastly, there are a small number of production binders for TV projects Sunga produced. A few TV series’
represented are: Three’s Company, The Ropers, Three’s a Crowd, Gung Ho, The Torkelsons, Pacific Station, and Someone Like
Me; and The Owl and the Pussycat, and Andy Capp, pilots that Sunga produced but were unsold.
