Description
A collection of booklets dating from 1899 to 1901 that were printed in Spanish by Mexican writer Heriberto Frías (1870-1925), illustrated by Mexican lithographer José Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913), and published by Spanish publisher Maucci Hermanos. The twelve educational booklets were part of a series of 110 total that were published for children to provide retellings of events in Mexican history.
Background
José Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913) born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, was a Mexican lithographer and engraver. In 1870, Posada joined printer José Trinidad Pedroza's studio and worked with him in Aguascalientes and León until 1888 when Posada relocated to Mexico City.
