    Abstract: The College of Science and Mathematics Records consists of the records of the college and its previous iterations throughout CSUN's history. Records include program brochures, event fliers, department records, and information on the San Fernando Solar Observatory and the Donald E. Bianchi Planetarium.

    Historical Note:

    The Division of Science and Mathematics was formed in 1958 at the new San Fernando Valley State College campus. In 1974 the school was renamed the School of Science and Mathematics. In 1994 the school was renamed the College of Science and Mathematics.

    Scope and Contents

    The College of Science and Mathematics Records consists of the records of the college and its previous iterations throughout CSUN's history. Records include program brochures, event fliers, department records, and information on the San Fernando Solar Observatory and the Donald E. Bianchi Planetarium. Materials have been broken into six series: Office of the Dean (1988-1998), Biology Department (1988-2003), Chemistry and Biochemistry Department (1988), Geological Sciences Department (1981-1989), Mathematics Department (2002), Physics and Astronomy Department (1981-2003). 
    Series I, Office of the Dean, consists of materials relating to College-wide business and events.
    Series II, Biology Department, consists of materials produced by the faculty and staff of the Biology Department.
    Series III, Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, consists of newsletters.
    Series IV, Geological Sciences Department, consists of materials produced by the faculty and staff of the Geological Sciences Department.
    Series V, Mathematics Department, consists of materials produced by the faculty and staff of the Mathematics Department.
    Series VI, Physics and Astronomy Department, consists of materials produced by the faculty and staff of the Physics and Astronomy Department including the plantarium and solar observatory.

    Series III: Chemistry and Biochemistry Department (1988)
    Series IV: Geological Sciences Department (1981-1989)
    Series V: Mathematics Department (2002)
