This collection contains the research material Polly W. Kaufman used for her 1994 edition of Apron full of gold. It includes notes, correspondence, photocopies of letters and clippings, magazine clippings, book reviews, photographs, genealogy research, and notecards.

The original order was kept by the cataloger. The collection is housed in one box.

Biographical / historical:

Dr. Polly W. Kaufman published a new edition of Robert Glass Cleland's 1949 book Apron full of gold, which tells the story of California pioneer Mary Jane Megquier, in 1994. Kaufman's edition includes the full text of each letter and a new introduction.
