Scope and Content

Primarily letters sent (originals and copies) by Haugen to her sister Daphne and mother Anna while traveling in Europe in 1947 with husband Max Nosseck. Also includes letters received by Haugen from her sister (1912) and from her niece Karla, which include short stories.
Additional letters written by Haugen to her sister and other family members 1947-1968 are located in Series 2 (Box 4, Fol 4) at the end of the notebook (including from Europe in 1947).

Series 2. Writings 1925-2007

Scope and Content

Consists primarily of drafts of novels, screenplays, and stories by Haugen. Some stories were presumably early versions or outlines of screenplays as they were registered by Haugen with the Screen Writers' Guild. Series also contains several published articles and short stories, two copies of Haugen's novel Women with Wings: A Novel of the Modern Day Aviatrix (1935), and several writings by other authors.
A detailed chronology of Haugen's writing life is located at the beginning of the notebook (Box 3, Fol 9), prepared by Haugen's sister Daphne Bates, with information taken from Haugen's diaries.

Also includes a chronology of Haugen's life (Box 3, Fol 9) prepared by her sister Daphne (mostly regarding her writing career) and letters from Haugen to her sister and other family members, 1947-1968 (Box 4, Fols 1-4). Items were originally housed in a three-ring binder.
