Collection consists of memory books, biographical information, and personal papers of Darrell Inabnit, administrative vice president emeritus of Sacramento State College.
Most interestingly, the memory books consist of letters, postcards, and photographs collected by Darrell while he served in World War II.
- Biographical / historical:

Darrell J. Inabnit was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin on October 28, 1916, the oldest child of Henry Elmo Inabnit and Josephine Marie Krajecki. He attended local public elementary and secondary schools and, by 1937, he was a student at the University of Minnesota. He graduated with a B.A. in Medical Bacteriology in 1939. Several years later, he would continue graduate work at the Universities of Colorado and Illinois to focus on Education, Psychology, and School Administration.
In 1939, he served active duty with the Coast Artillery Corps. He joined the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1942. He eventually became a pilot and staff bombardier, where he served combat in the European Theater. In 1944, during a campaign in Italy, his plane was shot down by an enemy aircraft. He was later evacuated to Germany where he lived as a Prisoner of War in one of its stalag camps. He was freed in 1945, and received the Purple Heart shortly after. He retired in 1946 with the rank of Major.
In the years that followed, Inabnit taught high school biology and chemistry in Boulder, Colorado. From 1951-1953, he became an instructor at the University of Illinois where he taught psychology and education. He returned to the U.S. Armed Forces Institute in Madison, Wisconsin in 1954 where he became deputy. By 1958, Inabnit took over as director. In 1961, he served as dean of admissions and records at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
In 1966, Inabnit became the administrative vice president of Sacramento State College. He served in that position until retiring in 1977, where he received the title "Vice President for Administration Emeritus".
Darrel J. Inabnit died of a stroke on October 18, 1996.
