    Biographical / Historical

    George de Schweinitz (1913-1990) was an American writer, professor, and poet.
    Denise Levertov (1923-1997) was an American poet and teacher.

    Scope and Contents

    This collection primarily consists of George de Schweinitz's unpublished writings on Denise Levertov. Some of this material contains editorial notes from Levertov. There are also poems by George de Schweintz and Alex de Schweinitz which contain annotations and remarks by Denise Levertov. Included in the collection is correspondence between Denise Levertov and George de Schweinitz, Elizabeth de Schweinitz, Alex de Schweinitz, and Clark de Schweinitz. Finally there are five published works that contain inscriptions by Denise Levertov.

    Open for research. Note that material must be requested at least 36 hours in advance of intended use. Audiovisual materials are not available in original format, and must be reformatted to a digital use copy. Selected video from this collection has been digitized and is available in the Special Collections reading room.
