Abstract: The Genealogies of William Abadie. This appears to be the handwritten version of Abadie's autobiography and reminiscences,1901.
The family tree begins with a marriage of Jean Pierre Abadie to Francoise Bares, and lists their twelve children. The eldest
son, William or Guillaume, Abadie leaves France in April of 1840 for California. The ship was wrecked, and the reminiscence
then details his trip to San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and then to Monterey County. He ends his life in San Francisco with
six children of his own.

The family tree begins with a marriage of Jean Pierre Abadie to Francoise Bares. They had 12 children; eight boys and four
girls. The eldest son Guillaume Abadie left France in April of 1840 bound for California, via Valpaaraiso,Chile, and then
on to Callao, Peru. From there he boarded the Chilean vessel "Sencon". On July 31, 1849 heavy weather caused the vessel to
wreck in San Pedro California and he lost all of his possessions. He traveled from there to Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and
eventually on to San Francisco, arriving in December, 1849. While in Santa Barbara he opened a general store in March of 1850
in partnership with Jerome Gaucheron which was in operation until 1863. In 1863, Abadie lost most of fortune due to the death
of most of his cattle stock. He would leave Santa Barbara in 1868 and arrive at San Bernardino Ranch in Monterey County to
raise cattle and plant wheat and other cereal crops. After many years of dry seasons he lost all his stock and produce. He
would eventually end up in San Francisco, living on Sacramento Street. He left his San Bernardino Ranch in 1899 and moved
to San Francisco with his family. He had married in February, of 1868 and had six children; five boys and one girl.
William, or Guillaume, Abadie, was born on October 5, 1823 in France (commune d'Oise, Dept. of Haute Garonne) to Pierre Abadie
and Francoise Bares, the eldest of twelve children. He left France in 1840 bound for California via Valparaiso, Chile, and
then on to Callao, Peru, where he boarded the Chilean vessel "Sencon". The ship was wrecked at San Pedro in bad weather, he
lost all of his possessions, and then travelled up to San Francisco via Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, arriving in San Francisco
in December of 1849, or November 15, 1849 - records vary. While in Santa Barbara, he opened a general store with Jerome Gaucheron
(1849-1863). He left Santa Barbara in 1868, and tried his hand at ranching in Monterey County, in San Bernarndino. He eventually
lost his cattle and crops after many dry seasons. He left there in 1899, and moved to San Francisco with his family. He
had married in February 22, 1868, and had 6 children - 5 boys and 1 girl, and resided in San Francisco at 1442 Sacramento
Street. He died on February 11, 1911. He was a member of the Society of California Pioneers, joining on September 6, 1869.
