    Biography

    Roger McDonald (1905-1960) was an illustrator whose uncredited work appears in GONE WITH THE WIND (1939) and REBECCA (1940). He began his career in 1938 working for Selznick Pictures and went on to work for British producer Alexander Korda, Samuel Goldwyn, R. K. O. and Universal. In 1943 he went to work at 20th Century Fox. As a member of the executive board of the Screen Set Designers, Illustrators and Decorators, he played a leadership role in the Hollywood Studio Strike of 1945-1946.

The collection consists of material relating to his career as a story illustrator and the 1945-1946 labor strike. Titles represented include GONE WITH THE WIND (1939), FLESH AND FANTASY (1943), LADIES COURAGEOUS (1944), A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN (1945), SALT TO THE DEVIL (1949), and WALKING MY BABY BACK HOME (1953).
