    Biographical / Historical

    The Chinese Tuxedo Restaurant was a popular, high end Chinese American restaurant located at 2 Doyers Street in New York City's Chinatown. It opened in 1897 and closed sometime in the mid 20th century.

    Scope and Contents

    Collection includes a bilingual menu in English and Chinese, illustrated with photos of the restaurant and staff. There is also a postcard featuring a photo of the restaurant interior, and a handwritten party invitation card to dinner at the restaurant, from "Mess Tom Mon Kip, Tom Ming, Tom Ying, and Der-Foo Sam."
