    Scope and Content

    This collection contains 92 glass-plate negatives and corresponding copy prints depicting the mining towns of Tonopah, Goldfield, and Manhattan, Nevada, in the early 20th century. The photographs show: miners, mines and mining operations, street scenes, buildings (including some interiors), parades, and drilling contests. Many of the photographs have the imprint of photographer E.W. Smith of Tonopah.
    Item titles chiefly transcribed from handwritten captions on images; cataloger-supplied titles are in square brackets.
