Description
This collection contains the official records of the Outcasts, a social and educational organization for women interested in S/M with other women that was founded in San Francisco in 1984. These records document the history of the organization and its accomplishments. The collection includes administrative records; board materials; financial records; correspondence; membership materials; materials related to Outcasts events and other activities in the leather and S/M communities; materials related to internal and external disputes; newsletters; and materials from other organizations.

Availability
The collection is open for research with the following restrictions. Researchers may not publish or publically disclose names or identifying information about individuals for 30 years from the date of donation, unless those individuals have already themselves disclosed, in print or a public forum, their association with these organizations, or unless they are deceased. Orientation, membership and door lists are restricted. All these restrictions will expire on July 19, 2033. Funding for processing this collection was provided by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC).
