Immediate Source of Acquisition
Provenance unknown. In library as of 1996.
A ribbon-tied booklet containing six photographs mounted on card stock, published in 1886
by Herbert S. Stone & Company of Denver. The photographs are scenic views of the Black
Canyon of the Gunnison River, Colorado, as seen along the route of the Denver and Rio Grande
Railroad, including rock formations and waterfalls. The photographer is not credited,
however photographs in similar booklets by the same publisher have been identified as the
work of Denver photographer Alex Martin (1841-1929).
Processed by Huntington Library staff, circa 2000s. In 2020, Suzanne Oatey created a
finding aid derived from a collection file.
