- Biographical / historical:

Joseph Milton Thibodeaux was born on Jun. 1, 1924 in Church Point, Louisiana and died on Jul. 24, 1948 Pittburg, California. Thibodeaux was a Port Chicago railroad switchman who was crushed to death between two box cars in the Columbia Steel Company yards. A pin in a greight car coupling had become jammed and Thibodeaux crawled between the two cars to free it. As he worked on the pin, a third freight car began to roll. Other members of the crew yelled to Thibodeaux by he did not hear the warnings. He was caught between the two cars.
Thibodeaux saw service in the Navy during World War II.
His wife's name was Alice Margaret and they had a daughter, Shirley Ann. Thibodeaux is buried in Saint Edwards Catholic Church Cemetery, Richard, Acadia Parish, Louisiana, USA.
