James 1:/King of Great Britain/Franca and Ireland,/Defender of the Faith &c/Paulus Vansomer p. G.Vertue sculp./An Original Painting in the Palace of Hampton Court. Bust looking to the right. Rectangle ornate frame topped with crown and three coat of arms. Ribbon floating under them inscribed: "Beati pacifici.” Orb and sceptre at lower left, with ribbon inscribed: "Regere, Impenio, Populos.” Engraving. 30.0 x 19.5 cm. Slightly stained on right lower corner. Trimmed close to plate-mark. From: Birch, T., The Heads of the Most Illustrious Persons of Great Britain, J.Knapton, London 1756.
