Biographical / Historical
Cecil Hanson was a land surveyor who worked for the Los Angeles County Flood Control District for the majority of his career.
He was also a collector of surveying instruments and helped found the Surveyors Historical Society. Hanson died in Houston,
Texas, in 1987.
Scope and Contents
Nine maps documenting properties in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties in the late nineteenth century and first half
of the twentieth century. Includes maps of Southern California ranchos, a flood control map, and various survey and tract
maps. Maps of Los Angeles area ranchos and Rancho Los Feliz were surveyed by former Los Angeles City Engineer George C. Hansen.
