Founded in the early 1950s, the Dandylions – an auxiliary to the Arcade Lions Club – participated in several social functions
and conducted fundraising activities for various charities in the Sacramento area. The Dandylion Choral Society was a vocal
ensemble that performed for a fee for groups throughout the Sacramento Region with those proceeds going both to a scholarship
fund and groups in need, including the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento and Crippled Children's Home. The bulk of the
group's activities took place during the 1950s and 1960s with group's presence fading by the mid-1970s.
The collection is held in a single archival box and has touches of water damage. Series are as follows: I, Photographs; 2,
Organizational Documents; 3, Newspaper Clippings; and 4, General. Photographs are both loose and attached to original scrapbook
backing. Most are in color and cover installation and holiday activities at homes in the Arcade area and various restaurants
in the Sacramento area, including the Coral Reef, Christie's Elbo Room, Wayside Inn, Mansion Inn, Hotel El Dorado, and the
Sutter Club of downtown Folsom (Sutter Gaslighters). Also included are prints of a Japanese-style garden tour of four homes
in the Pocket and Land Park neighborhoods of Sacramento. Organizational documents include typed lyric sheets for the Dandylion
Choral Society, press releases to local newspapers regarding organizational events, two iterations of the organization's by-laws
and constitution, and various party announcements. Newspaper clippings address organizational events as covered from 1965
to 1967 in the Suburban News, the Carmichael Courier, and the Sacramento Union; The general series includes a program for
"Arcadian Capers," a 1954 variety revue of 100 performers, a menu for Japan Night, held in April 1964 at Wakanoura Restaurant,
third-place ribbons for the garden display contest at the 1963 Sacramento County Fair, and general correspondence.
