Description
The California Club, an honorary service club founded in 1934, brought student leaders
of all University of California campuses together. This small collection contains materials from the Davis
chapter of the club including the club's constitution, correspondence, conference materials, and song
books.
Background
The California Club of the University of California was founded in 1934 by Robert Gordon Sproul, President of
the University. According to its constitution, the purpose of the California Club: "shall be to maintain
harmonious relations and unity among the student groups of the several campuses of the University of California
through the development and maintenance of the highest possible standards of sportsmanship, friendship, and
cooperation."
