Scope and content:

This collection contains photographs, scripts, promotional materials, and posters related to television programs of the 20th century as collected by the Television Arts and Sciences Library.

Biographical / historical:

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences was founded in 1946, by television producer Syd Cassyd, who envisioned a forum where all aspects and concerns of the television as a medium could be discussed. In the 1990s the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences transferred all of its reference materials to the University of California Los Angeles Film and Television Archive and to the University of Southern California Cinematic Arts Library.
