Description
The Wine
Institute Records on the American Wine Industry includes winery
survey data, county records, and regional growing histories; wine
lists and menus; wine labels; speeches by wine scholars,
producers and writers; promotional materials; materials related
to wine and popular culture; photographs; film and video; and a
small amount of microfilm containing biographies of wine industry
leaders, winery information, historical data, and
surveys.
Background
The Wine Institute was established in 1934 to serve as a
lobbying, promotional, and educational organization for the wine
industry. Membership consists of California grape growers and
wine makers.
Restrictions
All applicable copyrights for the collection are protected
under chapter 17 of the U.S. Copyright Code. Requests for
permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted
in writing to the Head of Special Collections. Permission for
publication is given on behalf of the Regents of the University
of California as the owner of the physical items. It is not
intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder,
which must also be obtained by the researcher.
