Series I. Teams

Biographical / Historical

The Project's responsibilities were divided across teams, which were staffed by volunteers and led by team leads. Each team focused on one or two areas of the Project, such as data entry, website management, and outreach. Members were able to serve on multiple teams at a time.

Scope and Contents

The team files consist of exports from the general Project Google Drive (organized by team), team lead Google account exports, and material selected for preservation by Project members.

This series includes meeting minutes and recordings, training recordings, operational documents, data spreadsheets, publicaations, and correspondence with the government and public. In addition, data products by the CRDT and LTC teams are included, along with data entry sheets for CRDT and TACO. Many planning documents for projects such as the data API, database implementation, the yearbook, and Year 2 (Y2) are held in this series. Of particular note are the oral histories, which were conducted by the Community team during the end of the Project's main activities.

Biographical / Historical

The Project's Slack instance (covidtracking.slack.com) was its primary hub of operational and community activity. Members could post text messages, images, and files to channels; in addition, they could add custom emoji to add and react to messages.

Scope and Contents

This series contains an export of public channels, user lists, messages, emoji, and files taken from the Project's Slack instance. The raw exports (as JSON) from Slack are included; in addition, messages, images, and emoji were combined into PDFs for archival access during processing.

Series VII. GitHub repositories

Scope and Contents

This series contains open-source code and data repositories created by the Project, which were hosted on GitHub under the COVID19Tracking organization. Repositories were used to maintain Project websites, APIs for public and internal use, automated data proceses, data archives, and documentation. While many repositories represent products used over the course of the Project's operations, others were single-purpose, experimental, or superseded by later projects. Of note is the issues repository, which was used as a general forum for questions, bug reports, and suggestions to the Project and its products.

Included in each item are repository files, git history files, GitHub issues, and pull requests as they appeared in March 2023. Issues and pull requests were captured separately and are included in an ISSUES directory in each item, along with a browsable interface developed for this collection.
