Description
Charles H. Hayden (1827-1919) and Richard M. Hayden (1841-1936) lived in Callahan's Ranch (now Callahan) in Siskiyou County, California. The small collection contains bills of sale, receipts, and ephemera related to their life and business operations in Callahan's Ranch, California.
Background
Richard M. Hayden was born on May 11, 1841 in Maine. He served as postmaster of Callahan's Ranch (now Callahan) in Siskiyou County, California. The 1880 United States Census lists his occupation as hotelkeeper. He and his wife Rosalia had the following children: N. Hesseltine, Richard, Nerva, and Charles. He passed away on November 24, 1936.
