Abstract: This collection consists of records created by the Kappa Theta chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., which was the
first Greek-lettered sorority established by African-American college women. The Kappa Theta chapter was chartered on the
University of California, Riverside's campus on March 27th, 1976. Materials in the collection include a copy of the charter
establishing the chapter, and a photograph album of sorority events occurring in 2014.

Collection Scope and Contents
This collection consists of records created by the Kappa Theta chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., which was the
first Greek-lettered sorority established by African-American college women. The Kappa Theta chapter was chartered on the
University of California, Riverside's campus on March 27th, 1976. Materials in the collection include a copy of the charter
establishing the chapter, and a photograph album of sorority events occurring in 2014.
Photographs in the collection may also include members of the Eta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc., as some events
in 2014 were held jointly by the two chapters.
