In 1988, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park acquired this collection from Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Historical or Biographical Note
Laurance Irving Scott (1874-1964) was the son of Irving M. Scott (1837-1903), who was the co-owner of Union Iron Works from
1865 to the 1890s.
Laurance Irving Scott was born on January 15, 1874 to Irving M. Scott (1837-1903) and Laura Hord Scott (1840-1927). On the
1880 Census, Laurance's name was listed as Irving L. Scott and, in some publications his name was spelled Laurence Irving
Scott.
Laurance was educated at Urban College and was still a student at Cornell College in 1897. He married Caro Crockett (1876
July 8-September 19, 1954), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Crockett, on October 16, 1901.
Laurance Irving Scott died on April 13, 1964.
